Hague Road Huggers car club was a dissapointment

Hey, well nice way to start Father's day. I caught a cold from the a/c, or it's the SARS, anyway Lou calls at 9:00 and tells me I got 1 hour to be at his place so we can drive out and set up for the Hague Road Hugger's car club show.
Well we show up nice and prompt, meet the guy in charge and check out the cars. While grabbing a coffee the main dude comes up and says "We are dune confusseded here boy's, we BOOKED ANOTHER BAND". So the fact that Lou set this up, called again to confirm Saturday, then again Sunday morning wasn't a tip off that we might just show up??
Then he says "THESE OTHER GUYS WERE CHEAPER."
So the moral of the story is:
A) Get everything in writing.
B) If a guy books a band based on price only, he is a shitty customer and one you do not want to do business with anyway.

What Would you go to work for?
Should be noted that we give the car club guys very *special Sunday deal, and we are still very interested in promoting the album. As our rate for the event was less than half, and we were providing a P.A. system for their complete event we all would have made more cashs today flipping burgers. In fact other bands give us shit for working so cheap!...but we are promoting the album, and that is the cost of doing business.

Alas, we don't just do this for cashs, but we got to keep in mind that we could be part of the problem that musician's these days are paid less than most teenagers at their first job, so when some one under cuts us at our *special deal, these ass clowns are really hurtin the industry.

Last, when you book a band the selection should be made on what the group can bring to enhance your event. I hope selection is made on the right style of music that fits the theme and works for your audience. (In this case the Hot Rod Kar KuLTuRE.) BUT in this case, it was simply on cash. So be it, but at least call to say it isn't happening!
Saskatchewan doesn't have that many people here and even less cool cars, so what would you do to make your car show one that people want to drive out to? I am not saying the guys who undercut us would do a bad job, I am thinking to myself......I hope it rains on that fuckers accordian!

Pike Lake Fun Run

It's been a busy weeken. We played Friday at a pub called Lydia's, then got up way too early and drove out to Biggar Saskatchewan for the Tire Craft Car Show. Sunday we played for the Coachmen Car Club, which Lou is a member. Here are a few shots of us in the park.

Both the car show were very cool, the guys at Biggar Saskatchewan had a beer garden, a real plus in the heat! Danny Grubber won just about everything with his Chevell and we meet Wade "Too Tall" Miller who does some of the best air brushing in Canada. Check out his site at www.tootallairbrush.com

The Coachmen really went all out again, covering the admission to the park and making sure everyone had fun. I want to personally thank them for all the bottled water they had on hand for us, especially after all that beer the night before!
It's cool to watch the attendance grow year after year, and always great to work with these guys!
