Lou? Lou Lou? Louloulemons?

Some times a picture is worth 1000 words, but then some times you just got to say WTF??

Lou had an unfortunate encounter with a deer while trying to out run the law.

He was dinning at the Denny's again and tried the old "I'm with the band, just put this on Clem's tab" trick. Well good ole Edith, our favorite (but extremely old) waitress wasn't falling for that one again. Lou bolts out the door and runs flat out. He can hear Edith yelling at her son Lester "he's gone and done it again. You get him this time". Now this is where the law comes in, see Lester works for the commissionaires and that's kind of like the law. As Lou turns his head to see Lester limping out the door (he's got the gout from all those pancakes) he runs smack into Lester's car. Lester just bought this at the auction mart not more that five days ago from the city police fleet sale.

Lou hits the car with such force that he breaks more than the window. Seems his head got a little sore too. For two days he was out on his back drooling and mumbling "Ed Urt"..

Were happy to report that he is up and eating solid food again. He even put on his best hat and played a round of mini golf with Ken and Barbie....

Summer kick off with a new type of gig

I know it's been some time since my last update. Mostly due to the hectic work and travel schedule we hall have. The recording project is coming along with at least five new tunes started, with bed tracks done and a whole bunch more on paper. It's just hard to find the time for all of us to work out new material.... No shortage of ideas so hopefully you'll stay tuned.

Looking forward to the Rosetown car show Friday. That always is a good time. Then Saturday we are playing another private gig in some one's back yard. This is the thing that has started to evolve into a cool and intimate type of event. The first one we ever did was when a buddy of ours threw a party in his garage (actually his garage has been done up to be every bit as comfortable as his house). The yard was packed with friends, all of whom rode over on some of the nicest H-D's in town. Then the rat rods and custom cars showed up. Neighbours all dropped by and it just rocked. Fast forward four years. To date we have done over a half a dozen of these type of back yard parties. Last week was another one where we played to a whole bunch of cool people and had nothing but fun. It was a birthday party for a woman (a very attractive woman..) whom we met at a previous gig. Her boy friend (well call him ''Lucky") set the deal up with Lou and the rest was a blast.

The whole idea of back yard or basement parties is really taking off. Other local artists have been talking about this as well. For reasonable costs you can hire a band for a night. Imagine entertaining all your closest friends with a band in your yard! It's kind of like the adults version of a kid's birthday party with pony rides and clowns, except with us you get THREE clowns in the deal! The equipment that we use these days is high end efficient state of the art in a super small package. (See BOSE L1 at bose.com) and takes up nothing for space or power. We can practically set up any where in about a half an hour.

Notice how I said ''These days''.... not like the olden days of rock and roll where guys needed school buses and a team of roadies to set up for a high school dance. (see previous post about roadies)

Imagine two of the top bins each side sitting on top of a couple of these bass bins, then top of this mountain of sound with two horns. It would take an extended cargo van just to carry one side of this sound system. Thank god technology didn't forget to fix sound systems... I didn't like hauling these monsters when I was 20 so there is no way I would even look twice at these now.

Anyway, I can see the small scale parties growing in popularity. We often hang out with other musicians during nights off and it is a common thing to see some one break out some instruments and start making noise. This seems to be a natural extension, and a great way to meet your neighbours!
