Rock 102 Back Yard Bash Contest
Our good friends from the radio station "Rock 102" in Saskatoon host parties every summer for the last couple of years called the "Back Yard Bash". This is where some lucky winner gets picked to invite a bunch of friends over and the radio station guys come to there place with lots of beer, a catered BBQ, a hot tub, and a rock in' band! Working with this top notch radio station has given us opportunity to make friends with a few of the local D.J.'s. I should mention that these guys work their regular shifts at the station, then spend countless hours working various events for charities to radio station promo's. These guys really put in the time!
Truly a fine example of community spirit! This is part of the Rawlco group and we are very fortunate to have a radio station that puts so much back into our community.
So they do all this cool stuff to help out, and then they do COOL STUFF for FUN!
The "Back Yard Bash" is one of these FUN events. We have been lucky that the ones we have played at were won by some real hip people, and this last one was no exception.

People were dancing from the first tune. You can't see it from this shot but these guys were waving BBQ ribs in the air cooked up by the boys from "Doc Hollinday".
The hot tub is always a hit and this event set the record for most people in at one time. This guy seems pretty happy he has the tub mostly to him self.....

Then there is our man Lou. Always willing to offer free drum lessons to girls in bathing suites. He is so talented that he was able to coach this girl on the ride cymbal, sing a tune and not skip a beat....
On the other hand, I was so impressed by how our Hot Rod Hullabaloo sticker was proudly displayed on this gals chest that for some reason I couldn't take my eyes away.....
The girls managed to up the ante by the occasional flash for a song request...

Lou sells his underware for a good cause

Once again the good people from the Saskatchewan Chapter of the MS Society are planning the annual bike tour in Waskesiu. Every year Lou participates by either playing at it or riding in the event. See link here http://www.mssociety.ca/sask/bike_waskesiu.htm
Well a few month ago we were working at an event where paparazzi broke into our bus and went through our luggage. (well in Lou's case it was a yellow plastic bag from Super Store) They took a number of pairs of his Stanfield's that his mom got him for the tour.
We found a guy wearing a pair one night and after a little "persuasion" he spilled the beans, and we recovered just about all 15 pair of Lou's shorts. Lou is a positive guy, so he realized that to turn a negative event into a positive situation, he should offer these up on E-Bay to help him raise money for the MS tour.
I asked Lou's mom Carol how she felt about his shorts up for sale and she replied " It's better than him polishing his truck with them." After all Lou looses most things that are not bolted down, so Carol put Lou's name on all of his shorts,"that way Clem won't keep taking them too".
Check out the Rock 102 guys at this blog, they made mention about this as well...
